About
Me.

My name is Rory Paul Tyler

My name is Rory Paul Tyler. I moved to Moab in 1993 and, among other things, walked to many  rock art panels. Most of the art was made during the Basketmaker culture’s residency between 1000 BC and 1,000 AD. As the years passed I began to get a sense of what the art I was looking at might mean. I believed I was seeing use-patterns that lent themselves to hypothesis and interpretation.

Much of this work was novel and far outside the parameters of contemporary archeology. So, any time I wanted to make a point, I first had to explain my thoughts and reasons for making certain connections and interpretations. This  web page contains three manuscripts, seven slide shows, and several other items that try to do that explaining. If a term or concept seems unclear, Spirit Sheep or containment element for example, you can probably find out more about it in the Codicon.
